OOTD 2/26/12

Hey there! This is my second post in less than an hour. I decided to do my very first OOTD on yesterday's outfit because, well I loved what I wore.

I'm wearing:

Zara sweater

Material Girl skirt

Betsey Johnson watch

Rococo boots (not photographed)

Cath Kidston IPod case (just in case you want one!)

Hope you liked my outfit!

The 3 Fashion Rules That Are Meant To Be Broken

Ah! I love blogging about stuff like this! Who says you have to follow fashion rules? This is what this post is about. I hate when people invent all these nonsensical things!
(although I'm guilty!) But, there are some rules I do believe!

See, Loonette The Clown doesn't care about fashion rules!

1. No white shoes after Labor Day: Yeah, sure! Seriously, why can't you wear white shoes? What if you get some nice white boots...well, no offence to the people who like white boots, but I think they're kind of ugly.

2. Don't wear a skirt with leggings: Pairing a denim skirt with leggings, a sweater and flats is totally cool! As long as the leggings are fitted!

3. No sneakers with dresses: For a less formal look, pairing a dress with Keds, or whatever, is totally O.K.

If, by any chance, you are offended by anything I said, well, rules are meant to be broken!

Hope you enjoyed!

Clothes Shopping Tips!

Tonight I'm going to be blogging about shopping. Here are my shopping tips.

  • Be open-minded of where you shop. Sometimes, you can find pretty clothes at the most unexpected places!
  • Check department stores, like La Baie. They have such a variety, and have SUCH great deals.
  • Unless you're really sure, don't shop online. You never know when the seemingly cool top ends up being this really ugly shiny thing...
  • Keep in mind what you're looking for. For basics, check American Apparel. For cool stuff that no one will have ,(well, at least no one who has read this post) check Urban Outfitters. For very trendy, runway inspired items, check Zara. For trendy, innexpensive finds, check H&M and Forever 21.
  • Keep YOUR style in mind. You may hate, say, H&M's clothes, but you might love something else. But, what can't you find at H&M, anyways?
Hope my tips were helpful. Think of me next time you go shopping. Haha!

Get The Look: Selena Gomez (Part 2)

I'm back! I took a little break for a week, and now I came back! I missed blogging so much!

Today, I wanted to do a Get The Look on Selena Gomez's outfit from her ''Hit The Lights'' music video. Evidently, this look is not wearable, but I think it is so cool, so I wanted to point out ways to make it wearable.

Top: Selena Gomez wears a turquoise tube top, which I wouldn't wear everyday. Instead, I'd wear a baggy blue t-shirt for a more casual look.

Skirt: The singer/actress pairs the top with a hot pink skirt. Skirts like this aren't hard to find, especially if you search places like Forever 21, and there is nothing non-wearable about them!

Shoes: Selena's shoes aren't visible, but I would pair this outfit with flats!

Hope you enjoyed this Get The Look. It is so great to be back blogging!

OPI Nicki Minaj Collection Review

Back in December (Oh, I go back to December all the time!!) I made a post talking about glitter nail polish and I mentioned the then upcoming Nicki Minaj collection may be reviewed in the future, and I was right! Here is the review of the collection!

Fly: This teal blue is most probably my least favorite in the collection, but even at that, I'd still wear it! It is just so pretty! I think I just contradicted myself!

Did It On Em: I love this color because it is rather unique: very bright and fun! Very Nicki Minaj-esque, if that makes sense.

Metallic 4 Life: I like this color because yes, it is dark, but it is still totally young because of it's glitter. I love the name!

Pink Friday: This is my second favorite color in the collection! I think it's cool because it's just your classic Barbie pink (VERRRYYY Nicki Minaj-esque, the term of this post!) It is not quite a hot pink, but not quite a baby pink-it's perfect!

Save Me: This is my favorite color in the collection!! I think there is not one other color quite like it-it's silver glitter with these unique confetti rainbow sparkles! It's ironic it's my favorite color in the collection because the song it's named after is my favorite Nicki Minaj song!

Super Bass Shatter: I doubt I would buy this color. It is just the classic OPI shatter in a purple hue. But it is pretty!

There was my review of this collection! I hope you can get some of these colors (and I hope I can too! OPI's hard to find in Montreal!)

Purse Shopping Tips!

I am finally going to do a post! Yes, today I'm going to be blogging about how to pick your perfect purse. A ''What's In My Purse'' post will be coming up very soon (like very soon!!). But here are my purse shopping tips!!

- Sulurging on a purse is worth it!

- Never buy a purse online, unless you're really sure of the model. It may arrive and look totally different than your intentions.

- Do look online for the models you like, and take screenshots so you have an idea of what you like.

- Choose a size that is practical for you. If you carry just necessities in your purse, aim for a crossbody, if you carry ''junk'' in your purse (like reciepts, gum, a toy firefighter that your friends found on the floor and gave to you in second grade) aim for a spacious tote. I personally own both for practicallity reasons.

- Keep colors in mind. When splurging, you want a versatile bag that goes with everything in your closet.

- Do check thrift shops. I've mentioned this in many previous posts. You never know what you might find.

Those were my tips on finding YOUR purse. Hope you enjoyed!

What To Wear: Valentine's Day

Valentine's day is tomorrow! I just wanted to do a very little post on my outfit tips and ideas for the day!

-Bows are meant to be worn on this day, so pile 'em on!

-Don't overdo it with the pink and red, wear just enough to be festive!

-Avoid dark colors!

-Even just a single pink accessory is perfect!

-Paint your nails pink for a cool look! My favorite pinks are OPI's Pink Friday, Italian Love Affair and Teenage Dream, as well as ElePhantastic Pink and That's Hot! Pink.

So those were my Valentine's Day tips!

Get The Look: Rihanna (Part 2)

Yes, I know I already did one of these on Rihanna, but I just love Rihanna's casual style. Also, I just wanted to do a post to celebrate that I made it to my sixth grade talent show, and I'm doing an acoustic rendition of ''Umbrella'', and that the Grammys are tomorrow! And it goes like this:

Top: Rihanna wears a colorblock sweater, which looks like something you can probably find at H&M or Zara, so search places like that for something similar!

Pants: The ''You Da One'' singer pairs the sweater with cuffed black pants (Or jeans, I can't really make it out!) My version of this outfit would probably include black leggings.

Shoes: You know the classic shoe column of a Tween Dreams Get The Look line!!! Any flats will go well with this look!

Hope you enjoyed this post!

Trend Alert: Friendship Bracelets

TGIF! Haha, I have my first-ever jewelry trend alert for you today! Oh, and I'm posting from my iPod for the picture and it is rather annoying!!! Roxanne, seriously shut up and get with the post!!!

I loove friendship bracelets just because of the feel they give any outfit! Ever since the new year, I've been wearing my Betsey Johnson watch, which is photographed wherever the picture is with some bracelets I made. This trend is so 80's, which is also the reason why I love this trend, especially when paired with my neon watch, and also that it makes for such a carefree look!

If you want ANY tutorials for the bracelets shown in the pictures, let me know!

All bracelets made by me!

Photo was taken by me, but edited with Instagram!

Spring Trend Report

What an odd post to do in February! I'm just so excited for spring, so there you go! Here are the top trends of spring.

Isabel Marant Spring 2012 Ready-to-WearMarc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2012 Ready-to-WearJeremy Scott Spring 2012 Ready-to-WearJuicy Couture Spring 2012 Ready-to-Wear

Left to right: Isabel Marant, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Jeremy Scott, Juicy Couture

1. Tye Dye at Isabel Marant: Tye dye was all over Isabel Marant's Spring 2012 collection. When paired with the right basic top, this is basically the coolest trend ever! Plus, it ties in with my Baby-Sitters Club inspired look!

2. Basics at Marc by Marc Jacobs: See, basics are in! I love how minimalism is big right now because that is pretty much what I love wearing right now. Plus, it is so easy to style.

3. Patterns at Jeremy Scott: Although I just said basics are in, patterns are in, too! Read my latest trend report for a full explanation of the trend. I love wearing patterns like the one above so much because it is so busy yet so basic! PS, the dress shown above is the same dress Katy Perry wore at the Europpean Music Awards, see my Get The Look on that outfit.

4. Colorblocking at Juicy Couture: I was right when I said colorblocking would be renewed for a second season! When done properly, this is such an amazing trend because it makes you stand out!

These are the trends of this spring! Hope you enjoyed my post! I know some of the outfits shown above aren't wearable, but you can find ways to make them wearable!

The Out Of Style Trends

These are the trends that are out of style in my opinion!!! Now, now, if you don't agree with me, you shouldn't worry, this is my opinion and everyone has their right to a personal opinion, so feel free to rock what you find cool! So, here it goes!

  • Baggy jeans are making their way out, I just don't like any jeans besides skinny for now. Also, people say harem pants will never be cool, but that's what I find cool! (see?!)
  • Long denim skirts just seem strange to me. On the other hand, denim miniskirts are making a comeback!
  • Loud, exaggerated shirts are just not cool anymore! I mean, very minimal prints and little designs are what's cool!
  • This is what I cannot stand although I own a pair for gym: chunky running shoes! The only reason I own them is for comfort reasons!
  • SHUTTER SHADES! Lord, this is plastered over everyone ''don't wear'' list! 2008 is over!!!
  • This is not out of style, but it's something that's a hit or miss to me: maxiskirts. Maxidresses are cool to me, but how do you STYLE a maxiskirt?
Yeah, anyways, those are the trends I can't stand! Hope you were entertained by this post!

The Tween Dreams Interview With CloeCouture!

Cloe, a.k.a CloeCouture's videos always stood out to me, she's always been one of my favorite gurus, if not my favorite! It was unreal when she agreed to do an interview for Tween Dreams!

This 14-year old puts an unbelievable amount of time and effort in her videos, it's unreal. Cloe began her first YouTube channel in Februrary of last year, and now her new channel has close to 10,000 subscribers! Cloe proves that you have to work so, so, so hard to have success online, don't think it happens overnight! In September, Cloe appeared in a Wall Street Journal article because of her successful DIY  makeup product tutorials. But, in December, something occured  to her channel, causing Cloe to start over and making a new channel, CloeCoutureXO. But, even at that, she still remained strong and managed to bounce back.  But, recently, her original channel has been recovered, thankfully!

Tween Dreams: How did you get into beauty/fashion?

    CloeCoutureXO: Youtube!

TD: What inspired you to start making YouTube videos?

CC: Other gurus, I wanted to be a guru too!

TD: What do your schoolmates think of your channel?

CC: They think it's really cool!

TD: What do you like to do when you aren't making videos?

CC: Hang out with friends, shop, try out new makeup products, watch videos, community service and after school activities.

TD: How did your relatives react when you told them about YouTube?

CC: My immediate family actually thought it was pretty funny because I was terrible at makeup when I started. They take it seriously now, though! My other relatives think it's cool as well. At least I hope so...: )

TD: Who is your fashion icon?

CC: My style is constantly changing, so I don't really have a fashion icon! I am not very into fashion either, but I hope to get more into it!

TD: How would you describe your style?

CC: Girly, simple and not too mature!

TD: Back in September, you appeared in the Wall Street Journal. How was the experience?

CC: It was a great experience! I was so shocked when they contacted me. It was an amazing opportunity!

TD: When did your channel really start to pick up?

CC: Well, my new channel started to pick up right away, with the help of so many gurus giving me shout outs and explaining my situation. But, on my old channel, my views and subscribers rose when I really started putting time in my videos. Most of the time, it goes YouTube first, school second. I know it's not very good, but that's the kind of dedication I have!

TD: What is the hardest part about YouTube?

CC: The hardest part is the time it takes to do! A simple two minute video isn't as simple as it seems. It usually takes about an hour to prepare to film, (You gotta look nice!) 30 minutes to film and an hour to edit! Then, exporting is about an hour and uploading is about 2 or 3 hours! And, it's all about the timing! I have to film between 8 AM and 4 PM because of lighting and I can only film on Thursdays and Saturdays in those times because of my busy week. So, basically, my entire weekend is about YouTube. Friday, I prepare and plan, and Saturday I film. I actually recently filmed 2 videos this Saturday, and it took up my ENTIRE Saturday! I guess that's the hardest part-YouTube destroys my social life! (Editor's note: Despite all the trouble Cloe goes through to make her videos perfect, she makes it look so easy!)

TD: You've had a lot of success with your beauty DIY videos. Is making your own products something you'd like to do in the future?

CC: Yes! In the interview for the Wall Street Journal, I mentioned that I would love to have my own makeup company when I grow up. I think it would be SO fun to test out the different formulas and pigments to get the perfect products!

TD: Is it hard balancing school and YouTube?

CC: Yes! I always end up going to bed at like 12:00 because I have to do homework and YouTube! Also, YouTube distracts me from  homework so much! I also can't make videos during the week because I have tennis every other day but Thursday, so it's hard to keep up with making videos at least twice a week. But I try!

TD: What advice would you give to  young fashion/beauty bloggers like myself?

CC: My best advice is to put your all into everything you do. Never slack. Put in your 100% into everything you do and it will pay off!

Thank you so much to Cloe for making this interview possible! You have to admire Cloe, it's amazing that she's had so much success at such a young age! Hope you enjoyed this interview!

    Trend Alert: Patterns!

    Prada Spring 2012

Oh my lord what is wrong with me? First I'm shouting from the rooftops that basic clothes are in, now I'm saying patterns are in. Sorry, but both are in! It's your choice if you want to wear patterns or basics. I wear both. Yeah.

This spring, simplicity is in! Wear small, simple but busy at the same time and basic t-shirts to really be on trend. I love simple patterns because they are so easy to style! A printed top can be worn with any basic bottom! Just don't pair pattern on pattern, that is not the look. I don't think I have any more things to say!

    Jeremy Scott Spring 2012

Hope you enjoyed this brief Trend Alert! Bye!
